LEBANON — The Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock is hosting a free virtual summer camp for children of all ages in the Upper Valley and beyond.
Every weekday from July 6-Aug. 21, participants will receive an email of activities they can do at home from Camp CHaD. Contributing organizations include the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Vermont Institute of Natural Science, Aviation Museum of New Hampshire and Squam Lake Nature Center.
“We’re keeping it simple and broad so we can accommodate as many kids who find it useful,” said Kristin LaFromboise, CHaD community program manager. “They just sign up and follow the links.”
If children and families don’t want to do the activities that day, they’ll be available for them to do at a later time.
“They can do it when and where they want to do it,” LaFromboise said. “We consider all kids CHaD kids. It really is for any family.”

Hartford’s Summer Concert Series in the Park will begin on Wednesday, June 24, at Lyman Point Park. Folk artist Jesse Terry will kick off the series with a performance from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The shows will continue weekly through Aug. 26, according to newsletter from the town’s parks and recreation department.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the set up for the concerts will be different. The biggest change will be the addition of “audience pods.” Each pod will have a diameter of 12 feet and will be spaced at six-foot intervals. Up to six people in the same family unit can sit in one pod. Additionally, some parking spaces will be designated as pods.
Attendees are also asked to wear masks while arriving and leaving the concerts. For more information, call 802-295-5036 or email recreation@hartford-vt.org.
Canaan will set off fireworks at dusk on Friday, July 3, in celebration of the Fourth of July, according to an announcement on the town’s website. They will be set off behind Canaan Village Pizza near the town green.
People who park in the village are asked to stay near their cars wherever they park and maintain six-foot social distancing guidelines with other family units. The rain date will be Sunday, July 5.
