ROYALTON – Police have identified a Royalton resident as the shooter in an incident that left one man injured earlier this month.
Jason Farina, 47, fired a gun at Nicholas Schultz, 23, at Farina’s residence at 2359 Happy Hollow Road on April 15, Vermont State Police said in a news release Wednesday.
When police responded to the home around 10 p.m. that night, they found Schultz with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he was treated and released the next day, according to police. They said at the time that there was no danger to the general public.
Investigators identified Schultz immediately after the shooting but refrained from naming Farina publicly until Wednesday.
Farina has not been charged, but the case is being sent to the Windsor County State’s Attorney’s Office for review, according to the release.
Windsor County State’s Attorney Ward Goodenough declined to comment Wednesday on whether charges will be filed.
The home, which sits on 3.7 acres near the intersection with Rix Road, is owned by Drew and Lori Brodeur, who also own an adjacent property on Rix Road, according to property records on the Royalton assessor’s website.
Farina could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
