NEW LONDON, NH — Eleanor V. (Pengelski) MacNicoll, 91, of Bog Road, died Monday, November 4, 2019 at her home.
She was born in Scotch Plains, NJ on December 13, 1927 the daughter of Walter and Sophie (Wojnarowski) Pengelski.
She graduated from Westchester State College with a BA in education where she met her college sweetheart and later were married. After moving to Livingston, NJ she was a physical education teacher for Chatham Township, NJ. The family used to like to vacation in Cape Cod, MA and Hawaii and she moved to New London in 2000.
A talented and creative soul, Eleanor was a painter and many of her paintings can be found throughout the area. She liked to educate students and always enjoyed history and her Polish ancestry. She was active and volunteered with COA in New London and the League of Women Voters. Eleanor loved to travel, visit Elderhostels and was a Road Scholar. She loved nature and golf. Every year it was important to visit the NH Veterans Cemetery on her husband’s birthday and have a special remembrance.
She is predeceased by her husband, David A. MacNicoll, in 2003 and her siblings, Violet Poliseo and Jennie Cogger. She is survived by five children, Susan MacNicoll and her husband, Donald Clark of Kittery Point, ME, Sam MacNicoll of Hawley, MA, Thomas and his wife, Jody MacNicoll of Waitsville, VT, Paul MacNicoll of Maui, HI and David and his wife, Kathleen MacNicoll of Londonderry, NH; nine grandchildren, Jesse, Christine, Michael, Reefe, Miki, Kelsey, Tracy, Joseph and Samuel; 12 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
