CLAREMONT — Sam Twarog scored two goals in the first half to spark the Lebanon High boys soccer team in a 4-0 win at Stevens under the lights on Saturday night.

The Raiders are now 12-1-0 and have won 10 games in a row as the regular season’s final week looms. Stevens drops to 5-8-0 with the loss.

Twarog got the party started for Lebanon in the third minute, heading home a pass by Tyler St. Martin. Twarog followed in the 38th minute with his second goal, this one assisted by Ben Tichner.

Logan Falzarano added a goal on a direct kick in the 50th minute. Tommy Berthasavage closed the book in the 63rd, scoring on a corner with assists going to both St. Martin and Alex Felix.

Keeper Jorgen Leuthauser had two saves for the shutout, the Raiders’ fifth of the season. Lebanon’s defense has improved as the season has progressed; the Raiders have allowed just two goals in their last seven games. Stevens netminder Cooper Moote had 10 saves.

Lebanon will host Pembroke on Tuesday. Stevens visits Conant on Monday.

Mascoma 2, Prospect Mountain 1

ALTON, N.H. – Ben Seiler scored the game winner seven minutes into overtime on a pass from Gavin Giovagnoli, powering the Royals to their seventh straight win.

Giovagnoli scored the game’s first goal in the 14th minute, which came on a double assist from Seiler and Cole Moulton.

Royals coach Keli Green said it was a game of possession and that the Royals would not have won without the strong play of both Ben Schwarz and Isaac Rayno. Keeper Connor Thompson made 10 stops.

Mascoma hosts Inner Lakes on Tuesday in its regular season finale.

FOOTBALL Mill River 48, Oxbow 32

CLARENDON, Vt. — The Olympians dropped to 3-5 with the loss to close the regular season.

Oxbow will open the VPA Division III playoffs on the road next week.

Bow 44, Hanover 0

BOW, N.H. — Senior Ben Wagner had a big game on defense for the Marauders, tallying two sacks and two tackles for losses.

Hanover (0-7) hosts John Stark on Friday.

Fall Mountain 21, Mascoma 0

WEST CAANAN – The Royals forced four fumbles on the afternoon and Mike Evans threw for over 80 yards, but Mascoma (2-4) fell short to the visiting Wildcats.

The loss eliminates the Royals from playoff contention.

Josh Evans racked up 70 receiving yards, forced a fumble and recovered one. Teammate Tyler Davis forced two fumbles.

Josh Williams also forced a fumble for the Royals, who will close the regular season at Raymond on Friday.

GIRLS SOCCER Thetford 7, Northfield-Williamstown 0

NORTHFIELD, Vt. — The Panthers (11-2-1) closed the regular season with a shutout on the turf at Norwich University.

Casey MacVeagh had a hat trick and two assists to lead Thetford. The three goals give her 51 for her varsity career. Lily MacVeagh started the scoring with a goal on a header off an assist from Casey MacVeagh. Ellen Veracka added two goals and Madi Powers had one.

Emi Vaughan had two assists. Veracka and Chloe Benjamin each had one assist.

The defending state champion Panthers will open the VPA Division III playoffs at home this week.

White River Valley 1, Rivendell 0

ORFORD — Grace LaFromboise scored the game’s lone goal midway through the first half, thanks to an assist from Sarah Howe.

Cora Day and Ryleigh Butler combined for eight saves for the Raptors. Fiona Vaillancourt made four saves in net for White River Valley (8-6).

Mikayla Stever, Sienna Carter, Moria Haehnel, Elizabeth Noyes, Rachel O’Hearn, Katelyn Woodbeck and Kendyl Boisvert were honored as Rivendell’s senior class.

The Raptors finish the season 8-6. Both teams will wait for their playoff fate to be announced on Monday.

Sharon 5, Mount St. Joseph 0

RUTLAND — Sophia DiGuiseppe and Isabella Amadeo had two goals each for the Phoenix (5-9-0).

Brandy Lewis started the action with a goal from long range in the 10th minute. Sharon built a 3-0 lead at halftime and then put the game on ice with a goal five minutes into the second half.

Amadeo added two assists. DiGuiseppe and Paige Shirley each had one assist. Keeper Rory Livingston made three saves for the shutout.

Sharon now awaits seeding in the VPA Division IV playoffs.

Mount Anthony 5, Hartford 0

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The VPA Division II Hurricanes saw their five-game winning streak snapped by the D-I Patriots.

Hartford celebrated senior night for Caroline North, Abbie Koff, Makenna Druge, Caroline Cassell and Megan Libuda.

The Canes (8-6-0) appear to have locked up the No. 8 seed and will open the playoffs at home this week.

Fair Haven 5, Woodstock 0

FAIR HAVEN, Vt. – The Wasps finish the regular season with a 5-8-1 record.

Kimball Union 1, Wilbraham & Monson 0

MERIDEN — Bella Parento knocked home a loose ball midway through the second half for the game’s only goal.

KUA (6-4-2) hosts New Hampton on Wednesday.

Cross Country Oxbow runs at NVAC Championships

St. JOHNSBURY, Vt. — Aiden Morse paced the Olympians boys squad with a time of 23:37 at the Northern Vermont Athletic Conference Mount Division Championship. Morse finished 67th on the 5000 meter course.

He was followed by teammate Hayden Palmer (23:41) in 68th place. Samuel Corti placed 75th with a time of 27:03.

BOYS SOCCER KUA 2, New Hampton 1

MERIDEN — Quinn Guth set up one goal and netted the match-winning in the final two minutes of regulation for Kimball Union (7-2-1).

Guth helped get the Wildcats on the board early, feeding Gonzalo Pascual-Sanchiz in the 16th minute.

New Hampton needed just four minutes for the deadline, converting a rebound after a save from KUA netminder Liam Fitzgerald.

Guth got the winner in the 88th, finishing a Sean Donoghue rebound. KUA visits Tilton on Saturday.

BFA Fairfax 6, Oxbow 1

FAIRFAX, Vt. – Bryce Ilsley scored on a breakaway to cut the second half margin to 3-1, but the Olympians couldn’t capitalize off of it.

“After a sloppy start, giving up two goals in the first ten minutes, Oxbow staved off numerous attacks and had some very near misses on offense before giving up a third goal just before half,” Oxbow coach Andrew Fisher said.

Dylan Bearce had 10 saves for the O’s, which ends the season at 0-14. Oxbow only graduates one senior.
