NORTH HAVERHILL — A 34-year-old Newport man has been sentenced to one year in the House of Corrections for trying to solicit minors for sex acts in May in Lebanon.
Jake Clarke pleaded guilty on Tuesday to three felonies: certain uses of computer services prohibited and two counts of attempted felonious sexual assault.
Clarke was arrested as part of a larger investigation by the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Lebanon police had alleged Clarke tried to meet up with what he thought was juvenile for sex acts; police were on the other end of the social media chat.
City police have arrested a number of men on similar accusations this year.
Once released, Clarke will remain on probation for three years, Grafton County Attorney Marcie Hornick said. He has 53 days of pre-trial credit.
Clarke also received two suspended New Hampshire State Prison sentences, both of which are two to four years.
