LEBANON — The Hanover and Lebanon chambers of commerce said on Wednesday that they will begin to share “space and resources,” effective August 1, as both business organizations seek to refine their focus in an era of e-commerce and a shifting economic landscape.

The Hanover and Lebanon chambers, in a letter to members, said they “came to understand the benefits and efficiencies gained by sharing space, working side-by-side and taking advantage of a cross-pollination ideas and experiences,” although they stopped short of announcing a full merger of the two organizations at this time.

“We believe such a move will help our respective organizations plan and deliver more meaningful and timely services” to their members, the two business groups said in the letter.

Under the plan, the Hanover Area of Chamber of Commerce, headed by Tracy Hutchins, will relocate into the Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce offices at 2 South Park Street in Lebanon. The Lebanon chamber has been without a head since former executive director Rob Taylor took a job with the town of Enfield last month.

The respective chambers said that in the coming months they “will evaluate the feasibility of a continued ongoing collaboration” and possible merger of the two organizations, according to Rich Wallace, chair of the Lebanon chamber.
