WESTMINSTER, Vt. — A Kimball Union Academy school bus carrying 15 students to New York City crashed on Interstate 91 southbound this morning, police said. No one was injured.
The driver, David Weidman, 61, of Plainfield, told police he lost control of the bus around 7:15 a.m. on the slush-covered road, causing it to overturn onto its driver’s side, according to a State Police news release.
The 15 students and two adults on the bus at the time reported no injuries.
KUA Spokesman Kit Creeger said the bus was taking students and chaperones from the school in Meriden to New York City at the time. The Brattleboro Reformer reported that the children got on another bus and continued on their way to the Big Apple.
“(We are) so fortunate that no one was hurt,” Creeger said.
Police said road conditions were wet, with road shoulders covered with slush and ice.
