Newport — An accident on Monday morning involving a school bus and a sedan injured one driver, according to police and the Newport superintendent.
There were no students on the bus.
SAU 43 Superintendent Cindy Gallagher said in a news release on Monday that the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. in front of LaValley Building Supply on Route 103.
The driver of the car, who has not been named, was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center by ambulance.
Newport police Lt. Charles Rataj said earlier Monday the cause of the accident was under investigation and he could not provide further details on how the bus and car collided or how badly the driver was injured.
Newport Police and New Hampshire State Police are investigating the crash and will release further information pending notification of the injured driver’s family.
Gallagher said in the release there were no additional drivers available for the assigned route but there will be a driver for today.
