AVA Gallery and Art Center in Lebanon opens four new exhibitions, each in its own medium, on Friday evening with a reception from 5 to 7.
All four of the artists are slated to give talks during the run of their shows, starting at 4 p.m. Friday with a talk by Henniker, N.H., artist Wendy Briggs Powell. Her show it titled “Color — flow and form,” and she works by dipping paper into colored dyes.
Lyme sculptor Stina Kohnke will talk about her work, which appears in a show titled “Parallels,” on Oct. 18 at 5:30. Hartland printmaker Rachel Gross will give a talk at 5:30 on Oct. 25 about her evolving printmaking technique, which involves the use of plywood and of shapes that create a sense of volume. And Bulgarian artist Boyan Moskov will talk about his work in ceramics at 5:30 on Nov. 1.

“We Are All Fast-Food Workers Now: The Global Uprising Against Poverty Wages,” an exhibition of photographs by Liz Cooke, is on view in the Nearburg Gallery of Dartmouth College’s Black Visual Arts Center through Oct. 30. The photographs are from a book of the same title by Thetford resident Annelise Orleck, a professor of history at Dartmouth.

Canaan Meeting House. “And Still We Rise,” an exhibition of quilts made by members of the Women of Color Quilters Network and organized by Louisiana-based historian, curator and quilter Carolyn L. Mazloomi, is on view both at the meeting house and at the Mariposa Museum in Peterborough, N.H., through Sunday. The show comprises 44 quilts, and the bulk of them, 34, are on display in Canaan. SculptureFest, Woodstock. Dozens of artists, many based in the Upper Valley, exhibit new or continuing work in the annual outdoor showcase of three-dimensional art at the Prosper Road home of Charlet and Peter Davenport and at the nearby King Farm. Featured artists this year are Mary Admasian, of East Montpelier, and Robert Hitzig, of Montpelier. The show typically continues through foliage season.
