John M. Laybourne, 56, allegedly traded the child pornography in an online chat room, according to a Lebanon police news release from August.
Lebanon police investigated the incident in July and executed a search warrant at Laybourne’s residence, where they allegedly found digital media containing videos of “very graphic child pornography involving young children,” the release states.
Police arrested him and charged him with ten counts at that time. He pleaded not guilty to those charges at an arraignment in August and bail was set at $50,000.
Last week, a Grafton County grand jury indicted him on 40 felony counts of possessing child sex abuse images.
Laybourne, who is being held on bail, will be arraigned on those indictments on Oct. 9.
Laybourne is a Tier 3 sex offender, meaning he must remain on the registry for life. In the 1990s, he was convicted of aggravated felonious sexual assault on a victim under the age of 13, according to the state registry system.
