Henry Payne
Henry Payne

To Our Readers:

We learned a few days ago that Glenn McCoy has retired from editorial cartooning. The syndicate that distributed his work has suggested as replacement options two cartoonists who, in the McCoy tradition, will provide cartoons that look at issues from a conservative perspective:

Henry Payne is an editorial cartoonist for The Detroit News. He was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1987.

Jerry Holbert has been a staff cartoonist for the Boston Herald since 1986. He received the National Cartoonist Society Editorial Cartoon Award in 2000.

We hope to select a replacement cartoon in the next week or so. Please take a moment to review the samples above (there are four by Payne and four by Holbert) and let us know what you think by sending an email to ekohlsaat@vnews.com.

Thanks!

Ernie Kohlsaat
