“There was quite a bit of discussion about our bond,” Selectboard Chairman Leigh Callaway said afterward, referring to a $99,000 breathing apparatus for the Fire Department. “People wanted to know what that was.”
Nevertheless, the bond passed by paper ballot, 55-0. A $39,000 article for repairs to the town meetinghouse roof also passed without opposition, Callaway said.
The budget represents an $11,000 increase in gross spending but would mean about $20,000 less in the overall tax levy, officials said in budget documents. Outside articles decreased by about $55,000, too.
In balloted voting earlier in the week, Pixie Hill defeated Annette Granger, 186-22, to become town clerk, replacing Cynthia Anderson, who is retiring.
