Ascutney — Police in Weathersfield are searching for a white Subaru today after a teenage girl said the driver tried to drag her into the car outside the Proctor Library along Route 5.

Weathersfield Police Chief William Daniels said the girl told police she had just been dropped off by a school bus at the library around 2:45 p.m. when a male between the ages of 50 and 60 tried to abduct her.

“He tried to abduct her and she was able to fight and get away from him,” Daniels said of the girl, who he said is about 14.

The driver fled in what was described as a white Subaru Impreza with a black hood and black roof, and was last seen heading north on Route 5. The suspect had a goatee and sideburns, according to the Weathersfield Police Facebook page.

Daniels said State Police had joined Weathersfield and Windsor police in searching for the vehicle. Anyone with information was asked to call 802-674-2185.
