Worcester, Mass. — Peter Pujals threw five touchdown passes, two to Martin Dorsey, and Holy Cross pummeled 11th-ranked New Hampshire, 51-26 in a nonconference FCS battle and the Crusaders’ home opener Saturday.

A year ago Pujals set a school record by connecting on 42 of 64 pass attempts for three touchdowns against New Hampshire. This time he connected on just 21 of 39 attempts for 367 yards.

Trevor Knight got New Hampshire (2-1, 1-0 CAA) on the board first with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Neil O’Connor, but Holy Cross answered with the first of A.J. Wells’ three first-half field goals, this one from 46-yards out.

Pujals hit Dorsey from 14-yards out to give the Crusaders (2-1, 1-0 Patriot) the lead for good and Wells hit from 29- and 37-yards to make it 16-7 at the half. Pujals capped his day with an 86-yard stroke to Dorsey to make it 51-19 with 6:43 left.

Boston — Brandon Wimbush ran for four touchdowns and 207 yards — a record for a Notre Dame quarterback — and Josh Adams had 229 rushing yards on Saturday to help the Irish respond to their fall from the rankings.

Wimbush scored on runs of 1, 2, 3, and 65 yards, setting up two other touchdowns with 46- and 32-yard runs. Adams broke free for 65- and 64-yard runs but was chased down both times by BC defensive back Isaac Yiadom.

In the matchup of the only two Catholic schools in FBS — a rivalry known as the “Holy War” — Notre Dame (2-1) led just 14-13 midway through the third quarter before scoring the next three touchdowns to beat the Eagles for the sixth straight time.

Rhode Island 17, Harvard 10

Kingston, r.i. — Tyler Harris threw for 235 yards and a touchdown as Rhode Island upset Harvard to grab its first win of the season and first victory over Harvard in five tries.

Rhode Island (1-2) won just four games in the past three seasons while Harvard lost only four over the same period.

Aaron Parker caught three passes for 103 yards and a touchdown, a 51-yarder to stake the Rams to a 7-3 lead in the second quarter. Charlie Booker III rushed for 139 yards to lead Harvard (0-1).

Brown 28, Bryant 23

Providence, r.i. — Nick Duncan rushed for a pair of touchdowns and threw for one, and Brown (1-0) handled Bryant (1-2).

Duncan had a 50-yard touchdown carry in the second quarter and added a 5-yard scamper in the third. Duncan finished 14 of 27 for 152 yards through the air and rushed 10 times for 73 yards.

Yale 56, Lehigh 28

Bethlehem, Pa. — Kurt Rawlings threw for four touchdowns, Zane Dudek ran for two scores, and Yale (1-0) opened its season with a win over Lehigh to take the Yank Townsend Trophy from the Mountain Hawks.

Rawlings was 20 of 26 for 308 yards passing, with a 43-yard TD pass to Christopher Williams-Lopez and an 11-yarder to JP Shohfi.

Princeton 27, San Diego 17

Princeton, n.j. — Chad Kanoff was 32-of-43 passing for 352 yards and Stephen Carlson had three touchdown receptions to help Princeton beat San Diego.

Jesper Horsted had 12 catches for 108 yards — both career highs — for the Tigers (1-0). Kanoff moved past Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett into third on program’s career list with 4,388 yards passing.

Penn 42, Ohio Dominican 24

Philadelphia — Karekin Brooks had 10 carries for 142 yards and two touchdowns to help Pennsylvania (1-0) beat Division II Ohio Dominican in the Quakers’ season opener.

Will Fischer-Colbrie threw for 198 yards and two scores, and Justin Watson had eight receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns.

Columbia 17, Wagner 14

New York — Oren Milstein kicked a 29-yard field goal as time expired to put Columbia (1-0) on top.

Milstein’s winning field goal capped a nine-play drive led by quarterback Anders Hill who took the Lions (1-0) 55 yards in 1:38 to set up the attempt with no time left on the clock.

Delaware 41, Cornell 14

Newark, Del. — Joe Walker passed for a career-high 202 yards and two touchdowns and Kareem Williams rushed for 121 yards on 15 carries as Delaware powered past Cornell (0-1).

Walker, who tossed eight passes to Jamie Jarmon for 84 yards and a score, completed 20 of 30 attempts with one interception.

Virginia 38, UConn 18

Charlottesville, Va. — Kurt Benkert passed for a school-record breaking 455 yards and Virginia (2-1) avenged a heartbreak loss last season with a victory over Connecticut (1-1).

UConn (1-1) went 1 of 4 on red zone possessions — including two turnovers and a turnover-on-downs.

Middlebury 30, Wesleyan 27

Middlebury, Vt. — Jared Lebowitz threw for 352 yeards as Middlebury (1-0) held off Wesleyan (0-1) in the season opener for both teams.

New Haven 23, St.Anselm 7

Manchester — Ajee Patterson threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns as New Haven (2-1) kept Saint Anselm (0-3) winless.

Western Conn. 37Plymouth St. 29

Danbury, Conn. — Quinn Fleeting threw for 411 yards and three TDs as Western Connecticut (2-0, 1-0 MASCAC) defeated Plymouth State (2-1, 0-1).
