After a honeymoon in their second favorite state of Maine, they went together to serve in the Army Corp of Engineers until 1976 when they decided that Pomfret was the place to raise a family. Phyllis’s pride and joy were her seven children and 12 grandchildren. She encouraged them all to seek their own path. She taught and exposed them to all the skills necessary for a successful life including all sports, religion, and continued education. She made sure that her children; knew how to ski, swim, play high school sports, and ride horses. She taught them strength, compassion, kindness, love and survival.
