Portsmouth, N.H. — More than $1 million has been set aside to remove trees near a New Hampshire airport and put warning lights on tall trees that won’t be cut down.

Airport manager Paul Breen tells the Portsmouth Herald hat an unknown number of trees will be cut down near the Portsmouth International Airport in Newington because they could become obstructions.

Most of the money comes from a federal grant.

Breen said it’s a significant project and part of an eight-year plan.

The work is expected to start in the early fall.
