Bethesda, Md. —
Mrs. Grant-Suttie served in leadership roles with The National Children’s Hospital in Washington DC, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., The Visiting Nurse and Hospice Association of Vt. and N.H., Pentangle Arts Council of Woodstock, and many other civic organizations. She was known as a big-hearted, generous, warm, and empathetic lady. As a patient representative, she gave comfort and solace to thousands of people and their families who were in need of an effective advocate to help navigate the contours of illnesses and the complexities of hospital administrations. In doing so, she became an expert in medical quality assurance. Her compassionate and endearing personality radiated far and wide into all the communities she lived in, reaching out to those in need always ready to give a hand up to strangers and friends alike. An avid traveler, Mrs. Grant-Suttie, together with her late husband, traveled the world, had interests in opera, music, art and gardening. Their garden in Woodstock bloomed with wonderful floral beds, noted for the array of hostas.
Mrs. Grant-Suttie is survived by Atalanta Grant-Suttie, Francis and Carolyn Grant-Suttie, Roxana and Ogden Reid, James Grant-Suttie and Gretchen Helfrich; and five grandchildren, Katherine Grant-Suttie, Lindsay Reid, Ian Grant-Suttie, Ashley Reid and Natalie Reid.
There will be a memorial service at St. James Episcopal Church, Woodstock on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Juliet Grant-Suttie to Lift Me Up! Therapeutic Horseback Riding, P.O. Box 104, Great Falls, VA 22066.
