North Haverhill, N.H. — Mikell Ann Beckley, 72, formerly of West Hartford, Vt., died on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill.

Mikell was born in Woodsville, N.H. on Feb. 4, 1945, to Gerald P. and Margaret A. (Hatley) Beckley, Jr. She attended local schools, graduating from Woodsville High School prior to graduating from the University of Vermont. She held a masters degree in social work from Adelphi University.

Mikell had a 30-year career with the State of Vermont, entering as a caseworker and rising to be the administrator of statewide programs to assist people with disabilities.

She met Roberta Dubrowsky in 1972 and they remained partners until her death. They were married in 2009.

Mikell was active in community and church affairs having served on the Hartford, Vt. school board and as chair of the Hartford Democratic Party.

She was predeceased by her father, Gerald P. Beckey, Jr. on Dec. 19, 1992, her mother, Margaret Beckley on Feb. 21, 2005, and her brother, George A. Beckley on June 23, 1999.

She is survived by her wife, Roberta Dubrowsky of West Hartford; three sisters, Patricia J. Pierce and husband, Phil of Newbury, Vt., Sally J. Rutledge of Wells River, Vt., and Mary L. Florentine and husband, Dan of South Ryegate, Vt.; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mikell was a proud Vermonter who led a life full of grace.

A celebration of Mikell’s life and reception will be on Saturday, April 29, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Happy Hours Restaurant, 42 Main Street North, Wells River.
