A Grafton County Grand Jury indicted a 77-year-old man on two felony counts of stealing money from the American Legion in Lebanon.

Peter St. Pierre, of Lebanon, faces two felony counts of theft by unauthorized taking in connection with two separate incidents in 2024.

According to the indictments from an Oct. 16 Grand Jury session in Grafton Superior Court, St. Pierre is alleged to have “obtained or exercised unauthorized control over … money from the American Legion.”

One indictment alleges that St. Pierre deprived the American Legion of between $1,000 and $1,500 in January 2024. A second indictment says he took more than $1,500 in April 2024.

In October 2017, the Valley News identified a Peter St. Pierre as “club manager of the American Legion Post 22” at 189 Mechanic St. in Lebanon.

Jim Bagley, chair of the Legion’s House Committee, declined to comment when reached by phone.

In New Hampshire, theft of property worth more than $1,000 but not more than $1,500 is a class B felony punishable by up to seven years in prison. Theft of more than $1,500 is a class A felony punishable by up to 15 years.

St. Pierre is scheduled to appear for arraignment and a bail hearing in Grafton Superior Court at 11 a.m. on Nov. 9.

Attempts to reach St. Pierre were not successful.
