Charlestown — A 3-unit apartment house was destroyed early this morning in a fire that residents were fortunate to escape.

Fire officials say a neighbor alerted residents to the blaze, which broke out around 3:30 a.m. at the building on Ox Brook Road, and that they narrowly escaped.

One tenant has been hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
