Demonstrating a little well-timed restraint, DeSouza, a senior, scored three goals in the second half as the Raptors prevailed, 5-0.
Rivendell’s top returning scorer, DeSouza scored four goals in the Raptors’ first three games but had been held to only a pair of assists during Rivendell’s next five.
He was more controlled and selective against Stratton Mountain, completing his hat trick with goals in the 55th, 57th and 69th minutes.
“I talked to him after the game and said, ‘Do you know what the difference was?’ ” Rivendell coach Bob Thatcher said. “He said, ‘I was putting it in the back of the net.’ I said, ‘Yes, but do you know why?’ The difference was he was more patient. He’s very quick, and sometimes he rushes. He’s so amped up to score that he overtouches the ball sometimes, and it gets taken away. That didn’t happen in the second half today.”
The game was scoreless until an own goal a minute before halftime, Chris Gendron directing a shot off the hip of a Stratton Mountain defender.
DeSouza’s first goal came after a feed from Robert Burgwedel; his other two were unassisted.
Dashel Fukushima made 10 saves for the Raptors, who held a lofty shots advantage.

Hanover pulled within a goal in the 60th minute on Sam Strohbehn’s penalty kick, then tied it with Griffin Johnson’s goal from Marcus Helble five minutes later.
The second half was filled with end-to-end action, Hanover coach Rob Grabill said, one of the highlights being a block by Marauder center back Sam Pych to deny Beane in the second half.
Patrick Logan made four saves for Hanover, which is back at home Thursday against Dover.

The Lakers visit Newmarket on Friday in hopes of avenging a 2-0 loss earlier this season, then host Epping on Tuesday.

“Both teams had limited chances for a long time, even though (Williamstown) dominated the midfield,” Sharon coach Rob Stainton said. “Then we started giving away possessions in places where we shouldn’t have, allowing them chances to score.”
Cole Ward scored unassisted and Thatcher Morrison made a pair of saves for the Phoenix, which hosts Mid Vermont Christian on Friday.

Audrey Puksta and Kelsey Belisle scored for Stevens, with Beth McNamara and Jazmyn Griffin earning one assist each.
Caty Boles made 13 saves for Newport, while Amber Duford had six for the Cardinals.

Leah Mayes began the penalty corner play with a pass off the end line for the Raiders (9-3-1), who received 12 saves from Hope Brown and standout defense from Corinne Kennedy and Emily Hunnewell.
Lebanon coach Deb Beach said her team needs to win its regular-season finale against visiting Merrimack Valley on Thursday and hope for some help from other teams to earn a first-round bye in the NHIAA Division II playoffs.
Woodstock
Doton’s goal came unassisted, while Sarah Yates and Loretta Blakeney earned assists on Woodstock’s second. The latter was off of a penalty corner.
Molly Henne made four saves for the Wasps, who play at Hartford on Thursday.

“It was a very evenly matched game,” Hanover coach Jean Essex said. “We turned it on at the end of the game and had some near misses.”
Defenders Daphne Friedman and Allyce Good played strong for Hanover.
“They really stepped it up on penalty corners,” Essex said.
