Zak Gillette scored twice and Ambrose Wigglesworth once in the Mountaineers’ 3-0 win at Central Vermont League rival Sharon Academy on Wednesday for Whitchester’s third straight win.
After a 3-3 start, the Mountaineers are 6-3 and have outscored their last three opponents an aggregate 15-1, including back-to-back shutouts.
“We’re playing with intensity and we’re aggressive beating teams to the ball,” Whitcomb-Rochester coach Corey Stearns said.
“(The Phoenix) outshot us 13-10 today, but it was our guys who had many more of the quality chances.”
Gillette fed Wigglesworth for the first goal in the 12th minute, then Gillette scored the next two unassisted, in the 27th and 46th.
It was the third game in five days for Sharon (7-3). “I think that fatigue was a factor,” Phoenix coach Rob Stainton said.
Isaac Hodgdon made 13 saves behind a strong Whitchester defense led by starting four Marcus Sheldon, Liam Walker, Gavin Turner and Damian Burbano-Young.
“Everybody contributed today,” Stearns said. “The starters and the subs.”
Thatcher Morrison made four stops for Sharon, which finally has a few days off before visiting Williamstown on Tuesday.
Whitchester heads to Twinfield on Saturday.
Hanover
Sam Strohbehn’s free kick was redirected by Simon Kahan to the middle, from where Acker was able to send it past Nashua North goalie Brett LeBlanc (nine saves).
Hanover got on the board first late in the first half, when Acker fed Luke Messersmith to make it 1-0 in the 32nd minute.
The Titans’ Joao Santana-Neto tied it up three minutes later, putting the teams back in a deadlock at halftime.
It stayed that way until Acker’s winner, securing a sixth straight victory for Hanover (10-1).
Hans Williams made eight saves for the Marauders in his second game of the season in place of resting Pat Logan.
Hanover hosts Manchester Memorial on Friday night in its homecoming game. Food donations will be collected to benefit The Haven homeless shelter and pantry.
Windsor
Leland & Gray owned a 21-9 advantage in shots, forcing a strong game from Jacks goalie Kaycee Herschel (15 saves).
Windsor hosts Proctor for its homecoming game Saturday.

“We just didn’t show up at the beginning of the game,” O’s coach Charlie Barton said.
Kaysea Neil made seven stops for Oxbow, which was outshot 13-10.
The Olympians are back on the road Saturday, visiting Richford.
White River Junction
Hartford keeper Morgan White made four saves behind the strong backfield play of Lyndsie Rice, Kaylee Williams, Madison Druge and Maya Bolger-Chen.
Hartford visits Woodstock on Friday.
Woodstock
Mariah Luce and Lily Doton had the assists, the latter beating several defenders before setting up Johnson’s strike.
Molly Henne made three saves and Heather Blanchard had a defensive stop for Woodstock, which visits Otter Valley on Saturday.
West Canaan
Abby Duhaime made a pair of saves for Mascoma, which hosts Winnisquam on Friday in a rematch of a Royals’ overtime win over the Bears in Tilton, N.H., earlier this season.
Newport
After Newport surrendered the first goal, Hailey Perry tied it up for the Tigers with 5:48 left in the first half, assisted by Lacey McNeel.
The Vikings, however, answered two minutes later and added an insurance goal in the second half.
Katy Jurado made seven saves for Newport, which plays at Monadnock in a makeup game this afternoon before hosting Hopkinton on senior day Friday.

Sunapee
Elsa Pierson had two aces, for Sunapee, while teammates Abi Downey and Meg Frederick had four kills apiece. The Lakers host Newfound on Friday.
West Canaan
Hyde Park, Vt.
Leanne Burgess (33rd), Emily Carson (37th) and Cassidy Pryer (39th) also turned in top-50 finishes to help the Olympians to a third-place finish (98 points) behind Harwood (29) and Montpelier (80).
The Oxbow boys were fifth, led by William Douglas (26th, 19:27), Willy Moreno (36th), Jon Puffer (39th) and Keelan Durham (42nd). Harwood won the meet with 41 points.
Hanover
Donawa scored his second goal of the season when the Bermuda native received a pass from Matt Danilack and sprinted up toward the box, finishing with a hard shot that ended up in the lower left corner of the net.
Big Green keeper James Hickok made three saves.
