Meriden — Brielle Fitzpatrick and Ann Rightmire found the back of the net over the weekend as the Lightning Soccer Club’s U11 Bugs girls soccer team recorded a tie and a win to close their season.

The tie came Saturday in Epping, N.H., a 1-1 draw with host Seacoast United Storm. Fitzpatrick provided the marker that earned the Bugs’ point.

Rightmire snuck in a goal on Sunday in the rain at Kimballl Union Academy, which proved enough for a 1-0 win over Seacoast United Benfica to end the Bugs’ season on a high note.

Breakers Blank Two

Meriden — The LSC U13 Breakers posted back-to-back shutouts last weekend, beating the Bedford Bulldogs, 1-0, and the Hillsboro Heat, 4-0.

In Bedford, N.H., Sally Rainey made a diving save late in the second half to back up a Pepper Johnson goal to beat the Bulldogs. Bella Malo, Emma Berard, Evelyn Page and Audrey Park excelled on defense in front of Rainey.

On Sunday, Arwen Clayton struck for two goals and Jenna Veysey and Eli Stannard provided the others to beat the Heat.

Cavs Ride Cyclones

Hollis, n.h. — The host Hollis Brookline Cavaliers broke through strong early play from the LSC U9 Cyclones’ defense for a 7-4 win last weekend.

Ryan Carroll, Zack Garfield and Brayden Smith kept the Cavs off the board until Ryan O’Hern and Roan Palm gave the Cyclones the lead. Patrick Fitzpatrick had a chance to stretch the lead before halftime but fired high.

Jasper Moore, Noi Larsson, Safir Mehra and Ronan Przydzielski pressured Hollis throughout the second half, but the Cavs eventually piled up enough goals to prevail.

Comets Sail Past Cheshire

Meriden — Led by the defense of Zach Martsolf-Tan, Josh Richards and Logan Isham, the LSC U10 Comets soared to a 2-1 win over Cheshire United SC last weekend.

Kavi and Veer Patel provided the goals for the Comets, while Kai Kurokawa, Noah Branchflower and Dominico Pentella helped with their defensive play on the flanks. Sawyer Albrecht’s second-half play also helped secure the win.

Shooters Sweep

Norwich — The LSC U11 Shooters recorded back-to-back wins over the Seacoast United Admirals last weekend to finish third in the New England Premiership table.

On Saturday at Huntley Meadows, Zane Schiffman struck for a hat trick to go with goals from Liam Worden and Nolan McMahon for a 5-2 win over Seacoast. The Shooters made it a double with Sunday’s 4-0 win in Amesbury, Mass.

Joey Blackburn made several key saves early on his way to the shutout win. McMahon scored twice in the second half after Worden dented the net, and Thomas Mosdal volleyed a Schiffman corner kick for the final score.

Chargers Play Three

Meriden — The LSC U12 Chargers followed a 5-2 loss to Seacoast United Pre-Academy on Saturday with a 2-1 win and 2-2 draw with GPS North Shore on Sunday.

Isak Larusson finished the rebound of a Richie Aman free kick and Ryan Oliveira scored off a deflected shot in Sunday’s opener. Cam Dwyer and Jack Maynes also played roles in Oliveira’s winner.

Hugh Clark and Evan Nichols answered with goals in the second game after GPS jumped to a 2-0 lead. Murphy Hunt and Oliveira had the goals in Saturday’s loss to Seacoast.

Storm Storms GPS

Bedford, n.h. — The LSC U13 Storm scored early and often over the weekend in a 6-1 win over the GPS N.H. Classics Elite in the team’s next-to-last NEP game of the season.

Tyler St. Martin, David Stoffel and center back Dylan Kotlowitz were among the Storm’s scorers, with Owen Stannard and Henry Aspinwall providing assists. Gabe Jacobs, Tucker Monson, Khuan-Yu Hall and midfielder Alexander Stevens impressed on defense to keep the Storm unbeaten in the league with one match remaining.

Cosmos Conquer SFC

Meriden — Hans Williams stepped up the face of two absent defenders and guarded the goal to near perfection as the LSC U15 Cosmos earned their first win, beating SFC New England, 3-1.

With the defensive end of the field secure, the Cosmos were able to gain some traction through goals from Christo Dragnev, Khenrab Norgay and Nicolas Mayo-Pushee. SFC ended Williams’ shutout bid with a late free kick from near midfield.

In the Pool UVAC Camp Aid Available

White River Junction — The Upper Valley Aquatic Club is making extra scholarship funds available for families interested in enrolling children in their summer Splash Camp program.

Any child who receives free or reduced lunch or other assistance may qualify. Scholarships are available for all camp sessions except week 2, which is sold out. The camp is open to children ages 6-10 and runs June 13 to Aug. 19.

Claremont — Former Lebanon High standout and current Bowdoing College assistant men’s basketball coach Scott Faucher will lead the Upper Valley Basketball Camp at the Claremont Community Center from Aug. 1-5.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 8-18 and runs each day from 8 a.m.-noon. The cost to participate is $100 if registered before July 1 and $125 thereafter.

With a Stick Lions Club Clinic

Hanover — The Hanover Lions Club will hold a free youth boys lacrosse clinic in conjunction with its annual Byrne Cup Twin State All-Star Lacrosse Games on June 25 at Hanover High School.

While the top graduating seniors from Vermont and New Hampshire compete at Merriman-Branch Field, members of the Dartmouth College men’s lacrosse team will stage the clinic on Hanover High’s upper grass field from 1-2:30 p.m. The clinic is open to boys in grades 3-8, and each player should bring equipment including sticks, helmets, arm and shoulder pads, a mouth guard and gloves. Participants are welcome to stay afterward and attend the all-star games as guests of the Lions Club.

On the Tee Post 84 Tourney

Hanover — American Legion Post 84, the new sponsor of the town’s Legion baseball program, will hold a fundraising golf tournament at Hanover Country Club on June 5.

Participants are welcome to form their own five-player teams, or individuals can have organizers assign them to a squad. The cost to play is $100 and features the 18-hole tourney along with other prizes and auction items.

Pickleball Clinic
In Quechee

Quechee — Quechee Club director of tennis Chuck Kinyon will host an exhibition and clinic for the growing sport of pickleball on June 18 on the club’s outdoor tennis courts.

Tournament pickleball player Dan Gal will be on hand to put on a demonstration of the sport, which involves elements of tennis and paddle tennis.

The clinic will be staged on Quechee’s two new courts dedicated to pickleball.
