Charlestown
Claremont resident Jeffrey Buzzell, 41, faces one count of receiving stolen property, according to a news release issued Wednesday.
Buzzell is being held without bail pending an arraignment in Newport District Court this week.
“Additional charges are forthcoming and investigators anticipate additional arrests,” police said in the release.
Attempts to reach New Hampshire State Police troopers involved in the case were unsuccessful. Messages left for Charlestown Police Chief Patrick Connors weren’t returned.
Last May, police said, two men forced their way into Christine and Arthur Beebe’s home late at night, tied Christine Beebe up in the basement and stole jewelry and several gold and silver coins and bars.
The Beebes own and operate Twin State Coin & Treasures, a coin and gold shop in West Lebanon.
Reached by phone at the shop on Wednesday, Christine Beebe declined to comment on the ongoing case, other than to say the incident “was and it still is very traumatic.”
Police at the time said the Beebes were targeted because of what was inside their home.
Police said previously two men in their 20s or 30s confronted Christine Beebe outside her home while she let her dog out. The men tied her to a support beam in the basement; a contract worker found her the following morning.
Beebe was hospitalized after the attack; she had a pre-exisiting medical condition that required her to take routine medications.
Soon after the home invasion, authorities in New York located property at a pawn shop that they traced back to the couple’s home.
Police said the men stole sets of rare, uncirculated coins and precise amounts of silver and gold.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
