Chelsea, Vt. —
She was born May 30, 1932 in Chelsea, Vt., the daughter of Everett G. and Bernice M. (Flint) LaFrancis. She attended school in Chelsea and on May 11, 1951 she married Clyde L. Hook of Chelsea.
They lived all their 64 years of marriage in Chelsea where they raised their family. Betty was always busy whether caring for her family, making bread and pies for the local restaurant, doing laundry and mending for others, working at G.W. Plastics, bookkeeping for her husband’s wrecker service and garage or chores on the family farm.
Bettyann enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, reading, photography, sewing, making jewelry, storytelling, writing, quilting and making raised donuts. She loved animals visiting with people, cookouts and her dog, Pebbles.
She is survived by two sons; Wayne Hook and Bruce Hook both of Chelsea, Vt.; two daughters, Patricia Silloway of Randolph, Vt. and Shirly Hook of Braintree, Vt.; 15 grandchildren; 14 1/2 great grandchildren; one great, great grandson; a brother, Merland LaFrancis of Tunbridge, Vt.; a sister, Barbara Woodworth of Constable, N.Y., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde Hook on July 6, 2015; five brothers, Nelson LaFrancis, Edwin LaFrancis, Irving LaFrancis, Kermit LaFrancis and Lewis LaFrancis; a sister, Dorothy Moore and a special aunt that was like a mother to her, Dorothy Flint Adams.
There are no public calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the West Hill Cemetery in Chelsea with Pastor Tom Harty officiating. A celebration of life will follow the graveside service at her pond, 146 Hook Road, Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either: First Branch Ambulance, P.O.
