This week’s showcase of adoptable pets in the Upper Valley — our fourth edition since launching last month — includes our first horse and our first rabbit! Plus we are featuring two cats who look like they could have been separated at birth.
The descriptions and photos of the pets are submitted by the organizations and sent to the Valley News. If you’re interested in meeting or adopting one of the featured pets, please contact the organizations via the links in the pets’ descriptions.
And if you’re involved with a pet adoption organization in the Upper Valley and want to contribute to this feature, please email mcassidy@vnews.com.

Sandy, adoptable from the Upper Valley Humane Society
Sandy is a 2-year-old New Zealand rabbit. He’s very social and friendly, and he enjoys meeting people. He’s neutered, confident, and could probably live with a cat, pending introductions.
Sandy’s not crazy about sitting in laps yet, but he absolutely loves to be petted and will beg for attention. He likes to be up high, so he’d probably enjoy sitting on the couch with you!
Sandy would make a great companion for older children or first-time rabbit owners.

Sandy is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.

Cherry, adoptable from the River Valley Animal Protection League
This week, River Valley Animal Protection League would like to introduce Cherry, our little old lady. Cherry is 12 years old and was surrendered due to an allergy in the household.
Cherry is very gentle and loves to cuddle. Be sure to have extra room on the couch and extra room on the bed, as she is likely to join you for some good petting time. Cherry has a hard time getting along with other cats, and warns them away with hisses, but if they give her space she has repeatedly shown that she can coexist with others peacefully.
Cherry is very sweet and would be a great fit in a family with children. She is older, and a picky eater, and she is slightly wall-eyed … and she would love to spend her golden years snuggling for hours with a family that loves her.
Will you be that family? Pretty please? With a Cherry on top?

Cherry is up for adoption from the River Valley Animal Protection League, located at 60 Cummings Ave. in Charlestown and open to the public Mondays, 4-7 p.m., and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m., or by appointment by calling 603-826-3061. The River Valley Animal Protection League is also on Facebook.

Easter, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society
Meet 4-year-old Easter! She showed up on someone’s porch on a cold night and never left. Since no one in the neighborhood recognized her, she was brought to Sullivan County Humane Society.
Easter is a sweet, inquisitive girl that gets along fine with other cats!

Easter is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.
Mishar Ami, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society
Mishar Ami is a 25-year-old retired brood mare that was one of 23 Arabians rescued from a Woodstock farm mid-November 2014. Since she’s been in our care, we’ve grown to love and admire this sweet gal. She has been fostered by a few different homes since then, and we really, really want to find her a permanent placement.
Honestly, they don’t come much sweeter and loving than Mishar! She’s in good health and weight and is current on vaccinations.
Mishar is a loving and friendly mare that deserves a great “retirement” home with a nice green field to spend her days sunbathing. She is a gentle horse that loves other horses and all animals. She thrives on their companionship.
Mishar Ami is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.
