Claremont
Claremont District Court Judge John Yazinski on Monday held a video arraignment and bail hearing for Travis Bunnell, whom police charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault and indecent exposure and lewdness.
Police arrested Bunnell in Georges Mills over the weekend and held him at the Sullivan County House of Corrections pending his arraignment. Bunnell is currently being held at the House of Corrections.
Bunnell hasn’t entered pleas on the charges. He has a probable cause hearing scheduled in the Claremont courthouse on April 28.
Police allege Bunnell assaulted the girl this month, according to court documents. In addition, police say Bunnell exposed his genitals to the child between August and April.
The victim is known to Bunnell, according to the documents. Few other details about the alleged acts have been released.
Assistant Sullivan County Attorney Felix Tarango, who is prosecuting the case, filed a motion in Claremont District Court on Tuesday to seal the affidavit in the case. Yazinski approved Tarango’s request.
Tarango wanted the affidavit sealed to protect the victim’s identity and the integrity of the investigation, according to the motion.
In addition, Tarango wrote that releasing details to the public could taint a potential jury pool and lead to an unfair trial.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the court hadn’t assigned Bunnell a public defender.
