WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Hartford High boys basketball team whittled U-32’s lead to a point twice in the fourth quarter, but ultimately lost to the undefeated Raiders 42-40 on Tuesday night.
Tarin Prior and Alex Bushway each led the Canes with 10 points apiece. Brandon Potter chipped in seven.
Hartford (3-5) outscored the victors by three in the second half but couldn’t complete the upset bid. The Canes visit Windsor on Thursday.
WOODSTOCK — The Wasps held the visitors to 28 second-half points, but Randolph’s five second-quarter 3-pointers was too much.
Harrison Morse and Ryan Ducharme combined for 42 of Woodstock’s 56 points. The Wasps are now 1-6 and welcome Springfield to Woodstock on Saturday.
STOWE, Vt. — The Phoenix led by two at halftime, but a 19-6 third quarter from the hosts put the game out of reach for Sharon (3-2).
Olly Skeet-Browning scored a team-high 16 points for the Phoenix, who were without Riley Eastman.
Sharon will look to rebound when it hosts Rivendell on Thursday.
QUECHEE — Facing a press for the entire game and down at halftime, the Eagles finally found their footing in the fourth quarter to pull away.
MVCS (2-3) was led by Hunter Cooper’s 21 points. Abel Goodwin added eight points and Cade Paquette finished with seven.
The Eagles host Vermont Commons on Friday.
WILLIAMSTOWN, Vt. – The Panthers earned their fifth consecutive win thanks to freshman Jacob Gilman’s 16 points.
Jackson Ransom added 11 and forward Eamon Deffner had nine.
Thetford (5-2) hosts White River Valley on Thursday.
MONTPELIER – Bryce Ilsley scored 15 points and Jace Page had 13, but the Olympians couldn’t overcome a 40-19 halftime deficit.
Oxbow (2-5) welcomes Randolph to Bradford on Thursday.
WINDSOR — Olivia Rockwood scored 23 points, and Angelina Bigwood and Ashley Grela each added eight as the Yellow Jackets improved to 6-1.
Peyton Richardson chipped in five points and Reese Perry had four. Windsor travels to Otter Valley on Friday.
QUECHEE — Hayley Goodwin scored 26 points and sister Sydney Goodwin contributed 14 points for the Eagles.
Rachel Horner-Richardson also joined the two in double-digits with 11. MVCS (4-1) host Twin Valley on Friday.
LANGDON, N.H. — Julia Tursky had nine points and Jaci Morin added eight, but it wasn’t enough as the Cardinals dropped to 2-3.
Tara Sullivan (six points), Sydney Miller (five points) and Alyssa Paquette (four points) also contributed. Stevens hosts Merrimack Valley on Friday.
MIDDLEBURY — Despite scoring a goal in each period, the Hurricanes fell to 0-7 on the season at the Memorial Sports Center.
Nora Knudsen opened the scoring in the first period.
In the second, Brianna Roberts put away a pass from Caitlin Slider.
The Canes final goal of the contest came from Ryelee Potwin, with assists going to Ada Acker and Roberts. Jacqueline Gour made 12 saves in net for Hartford, which visits U-32 on Saturday.
DORCHESTER — Skiing on the new, top-quality 5-kilometer loop at the Green Woodlands, the Hanover High boys and Lebanon girls won in a pair of five-way meets.
InterLakes’ Eli Misavage won the boys race in 12:00, a second ahead of Hanover’s Noah Phipps. The Marauders’ Simon Phipps (12:16) and Adam Gilbert-Diamond (12:17) were next across the line. Eighth-place Nate Magari was Lebanon’s top finisher in 13:10 and teammate Sawyer Weale (13:13) was tenth.
Hanover’s Margaret Frost won the girls race in 14:32, followed by teammate Sage Gilbert-Diamond (15:17). Lebanon’s Juno Barnett (15:28) was third and teammate Ana Goodwin (15.30) fourth. Also notable was junior high victor Annie Hannah of Lebanon, who finished in 13:51.

HANOVER — Robbie Higgins scored 18 points to lead the Blackbirds over the Marauders (0-1) in their NHIAA season opener on Monday.
Avery Hunnewell scored 18 points and Eli Weintraub added eight for Hanover, which hosts Newfound on Monday.
