NEWPORT — A 21-year-old Newport man who was in a vehicle that led police on a chase after they responded to a report of gunshots last June in Claremont pleaded guilty and is now serving a prison sentence.
Kaleb Potter pleaded guilty to reckless conduct with a deadly weapon in Sullivan County Superior Court on Oct. 16 and was sentenced to one year to seven years in state prison, according to state court records.
Potter was in the vehicle that police suspected was the source of gunshots fired on Twistback Road in Claremont last June and which led police on a vehicle chase through the city before it rolled over several times, police said.
Potter produced the firearm and fired the shots from the vehicle in the direction of three people, based on descriptions provided by witnesses.
