Lebanon
The schools, which evolved from a teacher-training program formed in the 1970s, are now enrolling students for its programs to certify teachers and principals, and for its master’s degree programs in teaching and in school leadership.
Faculty members will talk about those programs during the gathering, scheduled to run from 4:30 to 6:30 at the school headquarters on U.S. Route 4 east next door to Lebanon Middle School.

Sharing Knowledge
The Parent Teacher Association at Enfield Village School is inviting members of the community to teach before- and after-school classes in topics ranging from dance and karate to foreign languages, cooking and Lego building.
This week is the deadline to ask questions about or express interest in teaching a supplemental class, either by emailing PTA member Molly Finger at molly_finger@yahoo.com or calling her at 603-632-7419.
Stipends are available, at $25 a day for before-school classes and $50 a day for after-school offerings. A reimbursement of up to $50 is available for materials.
Instructors who volunteer their time qualify for free fingerprinting, while teachers receiving a stipend must pay $25 for the required fingerprinting, which would take place at the administrative offices of the Mascoma Valley Regional School District.
STEM (Science, Technology,Engineering and Math) Cells
Crossroads Academy eighth-grader Andrew Huang earned the only perfect score among New Hampshire students participating in the recent American Mathematics Competition (AMC8) for middle-schoolers.
Crossroads students joining Huang on the AMC8’s honor roll of distinction for scoring in the top one-percent nationally were Miriam Viazmenski and Maxine Park.
Crossroads’ Jonathan Li placed in the top five nationally to earn a spot on the AMC8 honor roll, and Audrey Llewellen made the grade for the achievement roll for students in grade 6 or below.
All the Valley’s a Stage
Will Drebitko, of Woodstock, earned the award for Great Young Performer during the Malek Jandali International Youth Piano Competition in New York City in December.
Jandali, a touring pianist, invited Drebitko to the competition when they met after Jandali performed at Woodstock’s Town Hall Theatre earlier in 2016. After months of preparation with his piano teacher, Sherry Belisle, Drebitko played Jandali’s six-minute composition Leil from memory, competing with students ages 18 and younger from the United States, Brazil, Canada, Turkey, Tunisia, Poland, South Korea and Syria. Drebitko also played Vince Guaraldi’s Linus and Lucy, in the part of the competition allowing students to play compositions of their choosing from their home countries.
Drebitko, a student at Woodstock Elementary School, is one of five award winners who will receive their prizes at Carnegie Hall in February, during a ceremony before Jandali’s concert there.

BarnArts is inviting aspiring actors and behind-the-scenes theatrical operatives ages 12 to 19 to join its Teen Touring Company.
In preparation for spring performances, the troupe will meet Thursday nights at 6, starting this week, at ArtisTree Community Arts Center in South Pomfret. The gatherings will cover dramatic improvisation, character development, script development and writing, staging and production.

Lara Fetto, of Canaan, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in December. A graduate of Mascoma Valley Regional High School, Fetto earned a bachelor of arts degree in new media.
Collegiate Honors
Frances Hoag, of West Newbury, Vt., earned a spot on the dean’s list for her academic performance during the fall 2016 semester at the University of Vermont. The freshman is a 2016 graduate of Oxbow High School.
Bridgewater College in Virginia recently named West Lebanon resident Jillian Carpenter to its dean’s list, for maintaining a grade-point average of at least 3.4 out of a possible 4.0 during the fall 2016 semester. Carpenter is majoring in biology.
High School Recognition
Lebanon High School recently named senior Jack Chase as its student of the month for January.
The Lebanon School District’s announcement of the award commends him for excelling in “his studies and in the very quiet ways he offers kindness to his fellow students. … He works very hard and is always willing to help others without any recognition.”
Screen Gems
The Community Access TV studio in White River Junction is inviting aspiring musicians and filmmakers to enter its third annual music-video contest.
Cash prizes go to the winners in three age divisions: junior high school, high school and college/adult. Contestants will have three weeks to write, shoot and edit video of their own original music or that of a local musician or band.
CATV will hold a mandatory kickoff meeting on Jan. 31 at the studio, in suite 142 of the Tip Top Media and Arts Building. There will be a workshop on non-dialogue storytelling at that meeting. Subsequent workshops are scheduled for Feb. 7 (introduction to editing with Final Cut Pro X) and for Feb. 14 (advanced editing for rhythm, continuity and color).
