The last of Coronis’ trifectas came in a 16-point Newport third quarter that turned a 21-20 halftime deficit into a 36-30 advantage entering the fourth.
Eliza Bates added two key free throws in the final stanza and finished with 10 points for the Tigers (3-3, 5-4).
Sydney Miller had game-high 18 points for the Cardinals (1-4, 2-6). Miller had a superb tourney, scoring 58 points over Stevens’ three games.
Newport resumes NHIAA Division III play on Friday at Campbell. Stevens get less of a break, returning to action on Wednesday back at Fall Mountain.

“It was our best game of the year in all facets,” said Hanover coach Dan O’Rourke, whose team is off until Friday’s visit to NHIAA Division II foe Coe-Brown. “St. Francois was the best passing team I’ve seen this year.”
Hanover’s Willa Parkins had a season-high eight points and Diana Schwarz and Bella Bardales each had seven points.

Mount Royal’s Alexis Matte and Sophie LaRose both scored enough to down the Eagles (1-5, 1-6) single-handedly. Matte accounted for 11 of MRA’s 18 free throws en route to a game-high 25 points, and Larose provided 19 points in support.
Jacinta Hogan scored 10 for the Knights, who meet Coe-Brown at 2:30 p.m. today on the tournament’s second day of action.

Lebanon held a two-point lead entering the fourth quarter, never built it higher than four and had to ward off the Crusaders after they tied the game at 41-41 with a 3-pointer in the final half-minute. The D-II Raiders went 2-1 at the tourney, beating D-I Bedford and losing to D-I co-leader Exeter.
Jon Willeman had 15 points, Berthasavage finished with eight and Caleb Smith drained a pair of threes for his six-point Lebanon contribution.
The Raiders head back to the Queen City on Thursday for a date with Manchester West.

“He played really well inside for us, on offense and rebounding,” WRV coach Mike Gaudette said. “The big thing with these guys is they’re new with each other. They’re playing together for the first time, and their starting to believe and trust in each other.”
Bray scored nine first-quarter points as the Wildcats bolted to a 22-4 lead. Senior Troy Walker contributed 11 points, and freshman Dominic Craven added eight keyed by a pair of 3-pointers.
WRV goes to Rivendell on Friday.

Brendan Moorehouse scored nine points, Louis Larosiliere had seven, Mateo Hoffman finished with six and Blaise Edwards added five for Mount Royal, which trailed just 13-11 after one quarter and 19-14 at the half.
MRA meets Hinsdale at 10 a.m. today to wrap up tournament play.

L.J. Hicks led the way for the Winchendon, Mass.-based visitors with 21 points. Cole McNamara had 12 points for Newport, with Chase Hamilton adding 10 and Joey Ackerman contributing nine.
The Tigers close tournament play against Fall Mountain at 4 p.m. this afternoon.

Including a loss at Bishop Guertin on Saturday and tournament defeats to Concord and Bedford this week, Hanover played four of the five teams that landed atop the NHIAA Division I standings last year, Marauder coach Dick Dodds noted. Sylas Oberting added three assists to his goal, Matty Gardner scored once with two helpers and Casey Graham notched his first varsity goal and added an assist for Hanover.
“It was kind of the iron; it was a good test for us,” Dodds said of the recent schedule. “We approached the murderer’s row, as I called it, to get better every game and improve every game, and we certainly did. I think we’re going to look at this trip as being really helpful.”
Spencer Lawe, Patrick Daley, Cameron Woods and Rowan Wilson provided Hanover’s other goals. Carter Auch had two assists, while Williams and Daley also served up assists.
The Marauders visit Exeter on Wednesday.

Kyle Penney, Arlo Merritt and Paul Dore also scored for KUA, the latter earning an assist as well. Zach Paputsakis was the winning netminder, and the Wildcats face Brunswick this morning and Belmont Hill this afternoon in further tournament play.

“I actually thought we played good team defense,” said Hanover coach John Dodds, whose team faces Massena (N.Y.) at 11:30 a.m. today. “It was anybody’s game until the end, and they got that shorthanded goal during a bad minute in our zone, when we were trying to break out.
“It was a good battle, with teams backchecking hard and shutting down the passing lanes.”
Hanover was outshot, 17-11, and Marauders sophomore goaltender Rebekah Rudd made 13 saves. Essex faces BFA-St. Albans in today’s 1:30 p.m. title game, the first time the two Vermont foes have clashed since last season’s Division I state title game.

West Lebanon
Paige Hoegler had a solid night in the Lebanon net, making 25 saves. Berlin-Gorham netted one shorthanded goal in the victory.
“We thought we played well when we played Concord the other night, and we played better tonight,” Lebanon coach Brad Shaw said.
The Raiders, who fired 23 shots on the visitors’ net, head to Exeter a week from today.
Marauders Shine At Dartmouth Meet
Hanover
Oxbow finished sixth, Thetford Academy was 11th, Lebanon was 12th and Newport was 15th during the 15-team boys meet. Oxbow was 12th and Sharon Academy and Thetford were part of a four-way tie for last in the 16-team clash.
Hanover’s Kyle Doucette won the 300-meter dash in 36.84 seconds and Thetford’s Tad Darrah claimed the 1,000 meters in 2:49.18.
