Iran war is a criminal enterprise
The ongoing U.S. war against Iran has grown increasingly unpopular, especially due to sharply rising gas prices, but also because of the pointless death of American service personnel and the expenditure of billions in tax dollars. All this while President Trump is unable to offer either a credible justification for the war or hope for ending it anytime soon.
But there is an even more important reason to oppose this war. Trumpโs attack on Iran, when intelligence officials say there was no immediate threat to the United States, was a war crime โ what the Nuremberg Tribunal called โnot only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime.โ So also his threat to annihilate Iranโs โwhole civilizationโ violated international humanitarian law.
Whether or not Trump is eventually punished for starting a new war in the Middle East, he will always be remembered for his reckless criminality.
