WOODSVILLE โ The 22-year-old Springfield, Mass., man found dead in a Woodsville apartment last week died of a gunshot wound to the chest and abdomen, law enforcement officials announced.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that the manner of Demetrius White’s death was homicide, according to a Friday news release from the Attorney General’s Office, State Police and Haverhill Police, who are collaborating on the investigation, said.
The circumstances of White’s death remain under active investigation. There is no known threat to the public.

Last week, Jayden McClanahan, 21, of Hartford, Conn., entered not guilty pleas to three felony charges related to White’s death in Grafton County District Court in Haverhill.
As of Monday McClanahan remained incarcerated in the Grafton Department of Corrections, according to the online inmate locator.
Authorities found White’s body in an apartment building at 14 Nelson St. in Woodsville last Monday morning.
Officials have said they are working to identify “a large number of people” who fled the building following the incident. They’ve also said that people besides White sought medical care following the incident, though they have not described the number or extent of those people and injuries.

Those with information regarding the shooting are asked to call the New Hampshire State Police tip line at 603-MCU-TIPS (603-628-8477).
