LEBANON — Dartmouth Health has changed the name of the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and announced plans to build an intensive care nursery and pediatric intensive care unit in Lebanon.
Going forward, the Lebanon-based pediatric care facility will be known as the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Health, according to a Dartmouth Health news release. That’s because philanthropist and business owner Tom Golisano donated $30 million to Dartmouth Health Children’s.
“This investment is intended to elevate pediatric care by advancing services and building a new, modern Intensive Care Nursery and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to address the needs of the sickest babies and children and their families,” Golisano said in a statement. “With this shared vision, the hospital will strengthen its position in pediatric medicine, providing life-changing care of the highest quality with dignity to children and their families.”
Golisano founded the human resources company Paychex and is a longtime philanthropist, according to the release. He established The Golisano Foundation in 1985 to support people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and in 2025 he started the Golisano Children’s Alliance, which Dartmouth Health is now part of. The alliance’s mission is, in part, to improve care by creating opportunities for collaboration among health care facilities.
“This gift will accelerate the growth of pediatric healthcare in the ways our communities need it most: reimagined neonatal and critical care facilities, an expansion of pediatric specialty services closer to home, and new ways to connect our rural health system to a national network of excellence,” Dr. Joanne M. Conroy, CEO and president of Dartmouth Health, said in a statement. “At its core, it ensures we will always meet families where they are, in their most difficult moments, with both expertise and compassion. We are honored to carry the Golisano name forward in service of our shared mission.”
The Golisano Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Health is among 21 alliance-connected hospitals nationwide, including the Golisano Children’s Hospital at University of Vermont Health in Burlington and Golisano Medical Center at Connecticut Children’s in Hartford, Conn., according to the organization’s website.

Loud, physician-in-chief of Dartmouth Health Children’s, said in a statement.
