Sue Marcoulier

Bellville, TX – Leuna Sue Myers Marcoulier, formerly of Canaan, passed away on January 9, 2026 in Bellville, TX. Sue was born in Magee, Mississippi on September 17, 1932.

Sue is survived by sons Michael, Mitch and daughter Michelle, beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and countless friends. Sue was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 55 years, Dr. George L. Marcoulier.

Sue and George settled in Canaan where George taught at Cardigan Mountain School and later at Canaan College, serving as Vice President. Working as Librarian, Sue established the Canaan College Library and was awarded an honorary Master’s degree. Later, Sue worked at Baker Library at Dartmouth College where she retired after 23 years of service. Sue was active in the Dartmouth Staff Association, serving as President for 3 years and board member for 12 years. She was honored with the Tucker Service Award having exemplified the spirit of caring and ommunity service encouraged among all Dartmouth employees.

Family and warmer weather brought them south to Bellville, TX in 2005 where Sue volunteered at local museums and at church. She had always been an active volunteer in PTA, becoming president of the local chapter, then president of the NH state chapter, and finally serving 2 years on the National PTA Board.

Sue always dreamed of being a singer of songs on the Hit Parade. She became known as the Singing Den Mother for Mitch’s Cub Scout troop. She later joined a community group known as The Mothers Bluegrass Gospel & Country Band performing benefits around Canaan and was the lead vocalist with The Ensemble Dance Band playing across the Upper Valley. Sue also portrayed Mae West in the Lebanon Opera House Follies.
