NEW LONDON — Some residents in the region, including in New London, Sunapee and Springfield, remained without power into the day Tuesday following Monday’s ice storm.
As of 11 a.m. Monday, Eversource reported several outages each impacting less than five customers, around Lake Sunapee and three larger outages impacting between 50 and 100 people in New London. Most were reportedly caused by tree limbs.
New London residents were advised to stay home “unless absolutely necessary” through the day Tuesday in a Monday-evening community message. A conference room at the New London Town Offices was open Tuesday as a warming station for residents still without power.
New Hampshire Electric Coop reported a 745-customer outage still active in Springfield, N.H., Tuesday.
Vermont was in better shape Tuesday, with just 12 Green Mountain Power Company customers in the Upper Valley still without power.
As of 8 a.m., the New London Fire Department had responded to over 50 calls since Monday morning, including trees on power lines, fire alarms and medical calls, according to a Facebook post.
In Sunapee, the fire department responded to over 18 calls just Monday morning while the fire station and dispatch center operated on backup power, according to a Facebook post.
