Royalton, VT – Richard Myron Vesper, 49, a lifelong resident of South Royalton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, November 7, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born to Roger and Cheryl (Clark) Vesper on August 11, 1976. He’ll long be remembered as a quintessential family man, beloved husband of Billie-Jean (Partlow) Vesper and daughters Hailey, 22, and Mackenzie, 17, all of South Royalton. He’s also survived by his sister, Kimberly, and her husband Paul Angilly of Bristol, CT; his father Roger and beloved companion Susan Bowen of South Royalton, VT; niece and nephew Amanda and Nicholas Hebert; great-niece Sydney Fongeallaz; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Cheryl; grandparents Stanley and Loraine Clark, and Myron and Beverly Vesper; and mother-in-law Linda Yonkers.
As a child, Rick enjoyed working on the farm with his grandfather “Mynie,” milking the cows, driving the tractors and haying the fields; and he also worked logging with his father. He enjoyed sugaring as a child and later building his own sugaring operation with family. He enjoyed deer hunting with family in his youth, later teaching his own daughters how to hunt. Among his proudest moments were watching each of them get their first deer.
He graduated from South Royalton High School in 1994, where he played baseball and basketball, and also attended Randolph Area Vocational Center in building trades and automotive, and was a member of the Future Farmers of America.
He worked as an auto mechanic for several businesses in the area until his illness made that impossible. He enjoyed watching his daughters play sports at the local high school and with other leagues and organizations. Throughout the years, both daughters won multiple awards for their sports achievements.
