James Arthur Lawrence

Hanover, NH – James Arthur Lawrence, son of Arthur Paul Lawrence and the late Janet Higgin Lawrence of Hanover NH, passed away in palliative care at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital on October 10, 2025 from complications of chronic kidney failure and cerebral hemorrhage. He was 47 years old. Although James had lived most of his life in Ann Arbor, Michigan he had a lifetime relationship with Hanover through his parents. James had spent most of his summers involved with the family home in Hanover.

James was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and attended most of his primary grades there. He completed his schooling at Proctor Academy in Andover, NH, graduating in 1998. After graduation from Proctor he worked and attended the University of Michigan. After graduating from the U of M in 2017 with a major in Psychology, he soon moved permanently to Hanover. At the time of his death he was on the faculty at Hanover High School in the area of Learning Services. As a teacher he was recognized as creative, flexible, adaptive, and insightful. His outside interests of music , sports and art helped make many connections with students and faculty who have responded with compassion and with deep regrets to his passing. He is survived by his father, Arthur Paul Lawrence and his dog and best friend Yeti.

A celebration of life will be held in the Hanover High School cafeteria on October 30 at 3:30p.
