BRADFORD, Vt. โ A first-alarm fire at the Bradford Motel sent one person to the hospital Tuesday night.
The injured person was an occupant of the Lower Plain motel, Bradford Assistant Fire Chief Nate Brooks said in a Wednesday phone interview. He declined to provide further information about their condition or which hospital they were taken to.
The department responded to the scene at 10:09 p.m. Tuesday and found “heavy smoke and flames coming from a rear window” of the motel, according to a news release from the department.
Firefighters got the blaze under control within seven to 10 minutes of their arrival, Brooks said.
The fire, that started in one unit, had spread into the roof of the 19-unit motel. Damage was ultimately contained to two units.
The Vermont State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
The Corinth, Fairlee, Woodsville, Haverhill and Piermont fire departments and Upper Valley Ambulance also responded to the scene.
