WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Registration is open for the Bugbee Games, a free, five-day event aimed at building connections between older adults that begins Monday, Aug. 25.
The games, hosted by the Bugbee Senior Center, a nonprofit organization based in White River Junction, begin Monday with an opening ceremony and conclude Friday, Aug. 29, with a closing ceremony and barbecue.
Participants can compete in a variety of competitions including indoor rowing, a 500-meter challenge, a home run derby, basketball hoop shooting, competitive knitting and lawn games.
Registration is open at bugbeecenter.org/games through the morning of each event. More information is available at the same link.
People ages 55 and older from any town are welcome to participate, said Bugbee program coordinator Susan Manley. While the puzzle race and mini golf are full, participants are still needed for the basketball, home run derby and 500-meter challenge, among other activities.
Manley encouraged community members of all ages to turn out in downtown White River Junction at 10 a.m. Monday for a march of the athletes.
While all Bugbee Games programs are free, donations to support the senior center are welcome.
