PLAINFIELD — Work to stabilize and repair a roughly 400-foot section of Route 12A that was damaged in an April storm will start next week, according to state transportation officials.

On Monday, crews will begin to clear vegetation, stabilize the slope and reconstruct about 575 feet of roadway just north of Route 12A’s intersection with Beauty Hill and River roads, the state Department of Transportation said Tuesday in a news release.

The southbound lane is currently open to one-way traffic and signals will remain in place during construction, the DOT said. Drivers should expect delays during the daytime.

The road is expected to be fully opened on Friday, Oct. 18, but construction won’t be finished until June.
