WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The director of the free health and dental clinics for uninsured people in White River Junction and Lebanon has resigned, according to the chairman of the organization’s board.
Dana Michalovic had been director of the Good Neighbor Health Clinics for eight years, Craig Westling, chairman of Good Neighbor’s board, said in a Monday email.
“During her tenure, Ms. Michalovic spearheaded greatly expanded financial support for GNHC services and the opening of the new Lebanon clinic,” Westling wrote. “These accomplishments allow Good Neighbor to continue to provide free medical and dental care to the greater Upper Valley region.”
In response to a message left on her cellphone on Monday, Michalovic via email confirmed that she resigned and provided a written statement.
“My family and I remain very supportive of the Good Neighbor Health Clinic and its mission,” she wrote. “Making health and dental care accessible to those who would otherwise not find care is as important today as it was thirty years ago when the Clinics were founded.”
The organization was founded by Drs. Peter Mason and Paul Manganiello to increase Upper Valley residents’ access to medical care regardless of their ability to pay.
Good Neighbor has both a medical clinic and Red Logan Dental Clinic on North Main Street in White River Junction. The nonprofit recently opened a new location for medical services on Hanover Street in downtown Lebanon.
Finance and Personnel Administrator Heather Grohbrugge, who has been a member of Good Neighbor’s leadership team for about four years, is leading Good Neighbor’s operations as interim executive director while the board begins the search for the next executive director, Westling said.
“We remain very grateful to the many donors, friends, and volunteers who enable us to fulfill our mission of serving those in need,” he said.
