First Nursing Residency Program Finishes
At Alice Peck Day

Lebanon — Four women recently completed the first-ever nursing residency program at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital.

The nurses were recognized during a ceremony on Jan. 8. The program is designed to give recent graduates additional training and on-the-job experience as they transition from school to a professional nursing career.

Megan Wallace and Rebecca Fellows, both registered nurses, completed the medical-surgical nursing program. Caitlin Bandy and Jessica Chouinard, also registered nurses, completed training in the post anesthesia care and same-day surgery units.

The six-month program aims to offer additional training and support that many new graduates don’t receive, Ruth Waterman, clinical nurse educator at the hospital, said in a news release.

“It provide(s) an open and valuable forum for questions and peer support that isn’t always readily available to new graduates,” she said.

Barbra Brown, interim chief nursing officer and vice-president of nursing at Alice Peck Day, said she was glad to see the program at the hospital.

“Megan, Rebecca, Caitlin and Jessica worked very hard in the program and I’m proud of them for their individual accomplishments,” she said.
