Article of note: Voters will be asked to approve a property tax exemption for homeowners who have solar and/or wind energy systems. That will reduce their taxes based on the assessed value of the energy systems.
Contested races: Anthony Bishop and Stephen Freese are vying for a three-year term on the Selectboard. Laura McDermott, Kathleen H. Peters and Christina Mackwood are running for two three-year terms on the library board of trustees. Maegan Ellis and Janet Grecsek are competing for a four-year role as supervisor of the checklist.
Budgets and spending articles: Voters will be asked to approve a $4.3 million general fund budget, which is roughly $200,000 higher than last yearโs $4.15 million approved budget.
When, where and how to vote: Voting by Australian ballot will take place on March 8 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Canaan Fire Station, 62 NH Route 118.ย
