SPRINGFIELD, Vt — Lily Gubbins unleashed two second-half goals to lead Woodstock High field hockey to a 3-0 victory Monday afternoon over Springfield.
Scoreless at the half, Mackenzie Yates scored the game-winning goal five minutes into the second half.
Gubbins, a freshman forward, then made sure Woodstock (6-5-1) didn’t lose its lead.
Halfway through the second half, she scored off a pass from Sophie Yates.
With under five minutes to play, she tallied her eighth goal of the season on a Norah Harper assist.
The visiting Wasps outshot Springfield 26-2.
Woodstock hosts Brattleboro on Tuesday.
WINDSOR — Up 1-0 at the break, the Yellowjackets squandered their lead as Leland & Gray scored three second-half goals.
Goalie Adi Prior made nine saves on 12 shots, including two breakaway stops. Olivia Rockwood scored Windsor’s lone goal on a co-assist from Evelyn Page and Elliot Rupp.
Windsor (6-6-1) hosts Bellows Falls on Thursday in its last game before playoffs.
WESTMINISTER, Vt. — Grace LaFromboise tallied two assists to break the Wildcats two game losing streak.
Sophie Howe, Blake Southworth and Hannah White each netted goals for WRV (7-6).
Sarah Howe contributed an assist.
The Wildcats travel to Rivendell on Saturday.
