North Haverhill — A 63-year-old Lebanon man has pleaded not guilty to having inappropriate sexual contact with a young child who was known to him.

David Ladeau is being held on $35,000 cash bail following his arraignment on Thursday in Grafton Superior Court in North Haverhill.

Ladeau entered the not-guilty pleas to felonious sexual assault with sexual contact involving a victim under the age of 13 and felony witness tampering.

An investigation began in January when the girl told her mother about the alleged inappropriate touching, according to a Lebanon police news release. A series of interviews followed, and although Ladeau initially maintained his innocence, he allegedly acknowledged to police that he “let” the girl touch him inappropriately, according to a Lebanon police affidavit written by officer Emily Winslow.

In a separate interview, Ladeau’s girlfriend told investigators about a separate time when she confronted him about whether he inappropriately touched the girl. He denied doing so, according to the affidavit.

The date of Ladeau’s next court hearing was not available.
