Dartmouth Walk Supports Suicide Prevention

Hanover — The 4th Annual Dartmouth College Out of the Darkness Walk, which raises awareness about suicide and mental health, will take place on Saturday, May 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The walk begins at the Giesel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, at the intersection of College and North Park streets in Hanover.

Funds raised at the walk will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and its goal to reduce the annual suicide rate in the United States 20 percent by 2025 through research, education, advocacy and support. Currently, suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States.

The walk, one of 125 nationally, aims to turn hope into action, and create a culture that’s smart about mental health.
