It’s all about character in Windsor County Senate race
With November elections upon us, these are the times that test our country’s character and its future. And nothing is more important when voting for a person than the quality of their character. Are they humble, are they honest, are they honorable, and do they have integrity?
Which brings me to Andrea DeLuna Murray, who is running for the Vermont State Senate in Windsor County. She is a Republican. Since showing up recently in Vermont and getting involved in local Republican politics a short time ago, she has harassed local Republicans and local officials, threatened legal action against her neighbors, and even sued the chairman of the Vermont Republican Party.
Today, Andrea Murray is presenting herself as a moderate Republican. But don’t be fooled. It was she, along with her husband August (he now works for the Trump administration) who organized and led the effort to take over the Republican Party in Windsor County for Donald Trump. And their first action, minutes into the takeover of the Party, was to endorse Donald Trump for president. Facts are stubborn things.
Is it possible that she hides her MAGA politics because she knows it’ll never fly in Windsor County? Perhaps. But the voters of Windsor County should know this before they vote.
Simply put, candidates’ positions on issues are important, for sure. But far more important is their character.
The 1844 Democratic National Convention, held in Baltimore, was one of those historic events that are worth studying closely. James Polk, who was not a candidate for president but was running for vice-president, ultimately won the presidential nomination after the convention was deadlocked and the delegates for the former president, Martin Van Buren, decided to switch to Polk. And the leading Van Buren delegate, representing the critical New York delegation, did so after taking the floor and saying, gracefully, that Polk: ”…fully met the Jeffersonian standard of qualification being both capable, honest and faithful to all his trusts.”
I cannot say the same for Andrea DeLuna Murray and will not be voting for her in November for the Vermont State Senate.
