LEBANON — The Kraft Family and New England Patriots Foundation selected a WISE volunteer as one of its 2026 Myra Kraft Community MVP Award winners.
John Steidl, of Hanover, received a $10,000 donation to the Lebanon-based nonprofit organization that supports survivors of domestic violence as part of the honor, according to a news release from the foundation. Steidl was one of 26 people from around New England — and the only one from the Upper Valley — given money to put toward nonprofit organizations they volunteer for.
“Recognition for service is certainly important,” Steidl said in the release. “It acknowledges the effort and commitment of volunteers and others doing this work, but perhaps even more importantly, it draws attention to the many challenges in life that can so easily go unnoticed.”
Steidl is a volunteer advocate at WISE, where he supports survivors of domestic violence, according to the release. He also works with law enforcement officials, healthcare providers and others to make sure survivors have access to resources while coping with traumatic life events.
“His commitment to meet survivors in hospitals or police stations, often late at night, reinforces a system of response that is both accessible and humane,” according to the release. “His presence on the crisis line ensures that no call goes unanswered, offering survivors and community members access to compassionate, informed support at any hour.”
