Sharon, VT – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful daughter, Grace, who left us too soon on October 29th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Grace was born on May 25, 1992. She graduated from Woodstock High School in 2010 where she was a 3-sport athlete as a member of the Varsity Field Hockey, Basketball, and Track & Field teams. She also loved participating on the Woodstock Rec’s swim team every summer. Basketball, though, was truly her passion and she was especially proud to have traveled with her AAU team to the National Tournament in Virginia.
Grace graduated from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA, in 2015 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. At Lesley, she played on the women’s basketball team and also followed her love of music by being a member of the school’s Gospel Choir.
After graduation, Grace lived in Boston where she worked as a teacher at the ABC Headstart program in Roxbury. She also “paid it forward” by coaching AAU basketball and volunteering in a local organization. Upon her return to Vermont, she enjoyed playing on several local basketball teams.
As our first born, we immediately knew the depths of the unconditional love a parent feels for their child and she was cherished and loved beyond measure. She filled our lives with laughter, joy, and a fierce devotion to her family and friends. She cherished being a big sister and took her role as their protector very seriously.
Her greatest accomplishment, where she found meaning and a profound purpose, are her two young sons. Her passion and understanding of children came full circle with each of their births. Our hearts are grateful for their presence in our lives and her spirit will live on in them.
Grace is survived by her father, Ron; her mother, Jeanne; her siblings, Eve (spouse Alexander) and Charlie; her sons, 2.5 year old Tahj and 3 mo old Kai; a large and loving extended family and dear friends. She will be forever missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Grace’s life will be held on November 14, at 2pm, at United Universalist Church in Woodstock, VT. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a memorial fund for her children at: Ever Loved: https://everloved.com/life-of/grace-amato/
